Rev. Diana Collins, Interfaith Minister
I marry people, and I love my work The ceremony sets the tone
As an ordained Interfaith Minister, I serve people of all beliefs, and non-beliefs, as they make perhaps the most important rite of passage in their lives. Marriage is both serious and joyous, and it's my pleasure to help you get through the nervousness of the day and feel the incredible joy and glee of the moment.
If you want a boring ceremony, I'm not the minister for you. If you want a unique and expressive ceremony with words, gestures and music that is deeply meaningful to you, then let's talk. As an independent, ordained Interfaith Minister, I am trained to meet the needs of people from all different backgrounds. I follow no denominational rules or regulations. I serve you. And I serve in joy.
Pre-wedding counseling
I offer optional counseling around communication styles, finances and spiritual compatibility. Fees are negotiated depending upon the length of counseling.
Writing Vows
I believe everyone should write some part of the vows themselves, even if it's just private vows that you whisper to each other. My booklet, "Creating Your Personal Wedding Ceremony” has many ideas for your vows and also included elements from many faith and cultural traditions.
Religion or Not?
I welcome all. We have many ways of creating an inspiring secular ceremony, or using very general spiritual language.
Fees
The fee for meeting with you, writing the ceremony, amending it until it meets your approval, traveling to your location, performing the ceremony, and completing and returning the marriage license is $350. Rehearsals are additional $50. Locations 25 miles or more outside South Charlotte NC will require a small travel fee. The wedding fee is not a donation and it is not tax-deductible.
You will be asked to provide half the fee when you reserve my services, and the remainder is payable two weeks before the wedding. I take cash and Paypal. I must be paid in full before the wedding ceremony.
Co-officiating with a Rabbi, Priest, etc?
Yes, I will co-officiate if the other clergy member allows it.
The marriage license
Bring your marriage license to the ceremony and make sure I get it before we begin. Two witnesses will sign the marriage license after the ceremony. I will mail the signed originals to the appropriate office within 10 days (I make copies just in case). Instructions for getting an official copy of your marriage license are included in your NC marriage license packet.
I love cake, but....
I generally don't stay for the reception, unless there is a special remembrance or blessing at that time which you'd like me to perform.
